EMSINA and the successful NEMP Bids

The EMSINA Group and its valued members have been instrumental in assisting Geoscience Australia successfully apply for 2 National Emergency Management Project's worth approximately half a million dollars.

The first project will see a National Spatial Aggregation Tool built. This tool will take all the jurisdictional bushfire feeds and aggregate them into one nationally consistent webfeed available back to all participants. This capability will then open up significant automation possibilities including a Project already under development in the National Crisis Coordination Centre. This Project will also have allocations toward improving:

  • Bom webfeeds: Tsunami Coastal Zones, Volcanic Ash Clouds,
  • CAP-AU Feeds: The jurisdictions, where applicable will be allocated money to upgrade their bushfire feed to CAP-AU compliant.

The second Project is utilising the Japanese satellite Himawari-8 images to detect National bushfire activity every 10 minutes. These hotspots will increase the detection from "four times a day to 144 times a day".
